Joseph Berry had extensive gardens and greenhouses, all of which were open to the public on Sunday afternoons. It is believed he had one of the first automatic in-ground sprinkler systems in the area on his property. The tee for the second hole of the Country Club of Detroit Golf Course was on the Edgemere property from 1897 – 1911.
