Time Traveler’s Camp 2017

Our summer camp has a new name! Time Traveler’s Camp 2017

Each session is now one week long and is held on Tuesdays and Thursday
11:00 to 3:00pm at the Provencal-Weir House c. 1823, 376 Kercheval Ave., GPF

Cost is $100.00 per session for members, $125.00 per session for non-members.
All materials are included. Children bring their own bag lunch and drinks.

Schedule

    Session I | King Arthur Theme - June 20 & 22

    1. Draw and cut out a cardboard gold crown and decorate with simulated gems.
    2. Cut out no sew felt for a costume of Guinevere/Arthur and decorate it for a regal look.
    3. Sew a Merlin hand puppet from felt.
    4. Make blueberry cobbler from scratch with Michigan blueberries and fresh ingredients. (This event can be collaborated with the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House King Arthur Fairy Tale Festival being held on June 24th. Take your crafts to the event!)

    Session II | History Theme -  June 27 & 29

    1. Soak, cut and sew birch bark to make a canoe.
    2. Assemble and paint a wooden ship to pose as the fated Griffon.
    3. Draw the journey of  le Griffon on your hand colored 1679 map of the Great Lakes.
    4. Make homemade flap jacks with our own hand whipped butter.

    Session III | Patio Table Garden Theme - July 11 & 13

    1. Paint cotton napkins to create your own colors and patterns.
    2. Glue and paint coil rope coasters to match napkins.
    3. Decorate a terra cotta pot with mosaics for the perfectly matched designs for your patio table.
    4. Make muffins from scratch using fresh Michigan blueberries.

    Session IV | Fairy Tale Gardens - July 18 & 20

    1. Fill in your pot with moss and some decorative fencing.  Place a small potted plant in your garden.
    2. Make fairy doors from Fimo clay.
    3. Decorate small wooden fairies for your indoor garden.
    4 Make mini pies using Michigan apples and fresh ingredients.

    Session V | Garden Theme - July 25 & 27

    1. Use melt and pour soaps to pour into floral molds.
    2. Paint a birdhouse for your garden.
    3. Make flower, bug & butterfly magnets with Fimo clay and glue a magnet on the back.
    4. Make cornbread from scratch and serve with home whipped butter.

    Session VI | Horse (Hunt Club) Theme - August 8 & 10

    1. Paint your very own Breyer horse.
    2. Paint and decorate a wooden box as your barn.
    3. Sew and stuff your own fox for the hunt.
    4. Make homemade pear strudel.

    Session VII | Ribbon Farm Theme - August 15 & 17

    1. Dip candle wicks into melted beeswax to make tapers.
    2. Paint wooden candle holders for your wax tapers.
    3. Make a small braided rug out of beautiful remnant materials.
    4. Make cobbler from scratch using fresh Michigan peaches.
