On Thursday, June 18, 2015 the Grosse Pointe Historical Society will hold its 12th annual Summer Gala. This year’s event, “Some Enchanted Evening,” will be held at the home built for John B. Ford in 1929 and later lived in by the Harley Earl family, at 217 Touraine Road in Grosse Pointe Farms. The house is the only structure in Michigan designed by prominent East Coast and Palm Beach architect, August Geiger.
Gala includes valet parking, admission to party with open bar, strolling supper, docent-guided tour of Entry Hall, Drawing Room, Games Room, Formal Dining Room, and Media Room of home, Carriage House automotive design exhibit, tented party on the grounds, entertainment, and complimentary portrait photograph.
Sponsor Preview (invitation only) hosted in the formal rooms of the home, cocktails and appetizers served, music and vocal entertainment from the Great American Song Book.
Afterglow Private Quarters Tour . . . the Enchantment continues! At the end of the evening, guests will be admitted to the private quarters for a tour including master suite and marble-lined bathrooms, servants’ quarters, and kitchen complex, ending in the exhibition Motor Court for a cocktail Hummer Bar with special guest and more entertainment.
